For the past two years, we have been working to repair the pavers at the front entrance to Two Rivers on Island Woods Drive at Eagle Road. Unfortunately, the structural design in this area is unable to handle the heavy traffic and the excessive weight from trucks, especially after the expansion of development around Two Rivers.
The initial cost estimate to repair all the pavers was in excess of $100,000 due to the size, scope and duration of the project. We also would sustain costly traffic flow diversions that would create traffic control problems during construction.
As a result, the Board decided to replace the first two sets of pavers off Eagle Road with asphalt. However, that process has taken a long time due to several factors. First, asphalt is only available from approximately April through October due to potentially freezing temperatures. Second, we were required to get a new engineering report in August causing us to miss the October cutoff. The process is back on track and scheduled to be completed in spring.
We are aware of the potholes that continue to develop in this area. ACHD has been very responsive to fill potholes with asphalt when we report the potholes to them.
As soon as we have a date for this project, we will send out a notice via email.
